The incredible antiques and art just needed a bit of repositioning to make them more effective as a display. The contemporary frame of the windmill picture is out of place among the older pieces, so it was moved into the dining area and grouped with the four similar framed botanical prints. |
|
The contemporary frames now are grouped together in the dining area, replacing an oil painting above the hutch and two smaller pictures on the adjacent wall. The botanicals were previously on the gallery wall, separated by many other pictures. They didn’t have nearly the impact when they were separated. Now the frames of all five complement the brass lamp as well as create a cohesive feel in the space. |

The brass platter was moved above the china cabinet to take advantage of the vaulted ceiling height. The brass bowls were stacked vertically to draw the eye up as well as frame the china cabinet with the brass objects. The two small pictures to the left of the bureau are the pictures that the windmill (brown mat) replaced in the dining area. They are pencil drawings that evoke the antique and hint of oriental style of living area. |

The bureau used to be in front of the windows, which should be a focal point of the room, since there is a mountain view from them. The bureau impeded conversation between chair occupants as well. The other furniture was a little far away to make for effective conversations, too. The room felt very formal. |
