This Victorian home needed to blend period pieces with treasures from world travels. The bookshelves needed the most help. The upper shelves were empty and there was no real organization or theme. The furniture needed a less predictable arrangement. |
|
We painstakingly organized books and objects to create themes for display. Family photos occupy the same shelves across the room, creating continuity. Books are grouped with the objects from those places. The furniture allows for comfortable reading and conversations. |

Before, the room was pretty much the same as when they moved the stuff in. A modern lamp is out of place with the Victorian pieces. It was removed as well as the pub table beside the orange chair. It was taken to the adjacent parlor. |

The furniture placement opens up the room to the spaces around it. This rooms serves as a passage from the entry of the home to the dining room. Instead of the furniture creating a narrow corridor, it opens up and invites you to come in and sit or look at the displays in the shelves. There are intriguing tribal pieces grouped together now. |
